Mazaya Qatar Brings Annual Training Course On Islamic Finance To QATAR

The Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI), through the sole support of Mazaya Qatari Real Estate Development Company, is to bring the annual training course on Islamic finance to Qatar for the first time, from 11-14 March 2012.

The AAOIFI is an Islamic international non-for-profit corporate body that prepares accounting, auditing, governance, ethics and Shari’a standards for Islamic financial institutions and the industry. It provides several professional qualification programs (notably CIPA, the corporate compliance program, and in this case, the Shari’a Adviser and Auditor course “CSAA”,) are presented now by AAOIFI in its efforts to enhance the industry’s human resources base and governance structures.

The AAOIFI is independent, supported by over 200 institutional members from 45 countries, including central banks, Islamic financial institutions, and other participants from the international Islamic banking and finance industry, worldwide.

The CSAA course programme is designed to equip candidates with the understanding and professional skills for Shari’a compliance and the review process for the international Islamic banking and finance industry. It provides knowledge on:

  • Roles and functions of various Shari’a compliance and review processes;
  • The correlation between Shari’a compliance and review processes;
  • Mechanisms to ensure compliance with various decrees and fatwas;
  • A technical review of banking and financial operations to determine compliance; and
  • The establishing of foundations to gain stakeholders’ trust and confidence in institutions’ Shari’a compliance.

The course is expected to have about 25 participants from various financial institutions across the country and region, and will take place at the conveniently-located Gloria Hotel in Doha, from 11 till 14 March 2012.
