Seraj Al Baker, CEO of Mazaya Qatar, one of the region’s major new real estate development companies – participated Sunday as a keynote speaker at the 5th annual CFO Strategies MidEast Forum in Dubai.
Giving a presentation entitled “Making the leap from CFO to CEO”, Mr. Al Baker spoke to the invited delegates on: Motivating and influencing like a CEO: Effectively integrating and shaping the organisation’s direction and strategy; Utilising skills learnt as a CFO to make further progression and transition in the organisation; Discovering portfolio of leadership and strategic skills required by CFOs for career advancement; and Drawing on skills and experiences from the executive team to add value in the organisation.
This year’s forum was organised around the theme “CFOs rising above the financials” provide a unique platform for leading CFOs across the region to discuss, debate and develop new ideas and strategies for growth in the region. The focus of the event was not only on strategies and risks, but also discussed and debated the future CFO challenges and leadership. It was a two-day agenda featuring keynote presentations, in-depth panel discussions, interactive workshops and professional networking sessions designed to facilitate knowledge sharing and provide key insights to topical issues.
Mr. Al Baker drew on his 34 years of experience in Banking & Finance, including as Former General Manager of several Kuwaiti and international real estate and investment companies, to describe the unique challenges that come from transitioning from CFO to CEO, and the leadership lessons he has learned in his different roles.
The two day forum was held over 13th and 14th May at the Al Bustan Rotana hotel in Dubai.
